August 24, 1997: Another hot night of hot racing took place last night. Walsma Oil Company sponsored this night, as the drive for division championships enters the home stretch.

  • In the Pro-Street Stock feature Main Event, Greg Bratschie of Lancaster came home the winner driving the #76 car. He was followed by Mike Bush, T.K. Karvasek, Aaron Staudinger, and Kevin Wood, in something like that order, with Greg Benner, Jerry Toporek, and Jeff Murphy rounding out the top eight.
  • For the second consecutive night of racing, defending Pure Street Stock champion Dana Rea won both the Trophy Dash and Main Event.

Full results and updated points will be posted as soon as we have them.

June 15, 1997: Another great night of racing is in the books... Due to frantic activity in the Heap-A-Trouble Racing pits (detailed elsewhere) we have few details, but we'll give you what we have:

  • The night's races were sponsored by Ricache Racing as a benefit for the Xeroderma Pigmentosum Society, and, as it happens, the winner of the Pro-Street Stock Main Event was none other than Rick Crow in the Ricache Racing #38. Rick was followed by Mike Bush, Kevin Wood, and Greg Bratschie.
  • The Pure Street Stock field of 12 cars was the most ever for the increasingly popular division. Recording the win in the Main Event was rookie John Cereoli in the #28 Camaro, followed by Larry Wolford, Dana Rea and Kevin Rogers.
  • Don and Kevin Rogers in the #54 Train put on a powerful display in the Train Race Main Event. They made it back out on the track just in time for a restart after changing blown tires and battled past Bob Babcock in the #33 train for the win.
  • In the I-4 Modified Main Event, it was #69 Al Richards holding off Gary Ebeling at the finish for the win. Eric Lopez and Robert Fulmer followed.
  • News Flash! The Pro-Street Stock and Pure Street Stock divisions have both been added to the program for the next race at KCR on June 28th!.

    June 11, 1997:

  • On June 14th, Saturday night, Kern County Raceway will host a charity fund raiser entitled 'Race For Sundown X.P. Society'. To help build a camp for Children of the Night, or kids with a rare disease called Xeroderma Pigmentosum (X.P.). Kern County Raceway received a call from one of the regular racers at the track, Rick Crow, and his wife Cherilyne, about children who rarely live into their teenage years and cannot be exposed to any kind of light, natural or artificial. They only function in darkness. The mother of one little girl named "Katie" who was the founder of the Xeroderma Pigmentosum Society was covered in the February 1997 issue of Ladies Home Journal. Rick and Cherilyne have received handprints of children from around the world who have this disease, and have placed them all over their race car. Katie and her mother will be flying in from New York to be present at the races on Saturday night and a motorhome has been donated by Lancaster RV of Lancaster with special efforts to black out all the windows. Events for the Saturday night show include Pro-Street Stock, Pure Street Stock, I-4 Modifieds, Train Races and Dwarf Cars. Many of the other division drivers plan on coming out to support the fundraising effort. Information (805) 272-1234.

May 18, 1997: More great pre-summer weather, and an action-filled night of racing sponsored this week by Walsma Oil of Lancaster.

  • Rick Hopkins, #44, won his first-ever Late Model Main Event with the greatly improved #11 truck of Chuck Durbin on his heels all the way.
  • The Mini Stock Main Event was the "race that wouldn't end". On the last lap, race leaders John Petsco and Tom Berube came together in turn three and drove each other straight into the wall, leaving the door open for Trophy Dash winner #53 Jess Flores to roll by for the lead. However, the yellow flag came out before he crossed the line. After two attempts to restart the final lap resulted in wrecks, the checkered flag was finally thrown and Flores was declared the winner. (One of the victims of those wrecks, Greg Didoha #91, needs help locating a steering rack for a '71 Pinto and/or advice on how to take apart the tie rods. Please contact Greg if you can help.)
  • In the KCRazy-8 field for the first time this season, we saw the familiar face of T.K. Karvasek in a new #5 car. T.K. and #85 Larry Wolford started on the front row, with Wolford pulling out to the early lead, and #82 Jon Christensen, on seven cylinders, holding down third behind Karvasek. Mid-way through the race, Karvasek got into Wolford's rear corner coming through turn one and Wolford went around. (After the race, T.K. said that he had let up, but there was some speculation that what he had let up on was the brake.) By the time Wolford got himself turned around, he was in third behind Christensen, with T.K. out to a comfortable lead. Wolford tried every line possible to get by Christensen's down on power Camaro, but couldn't do it. He finally had to settle for a last-moment charge past Christensen at the flag to pull out a second place finish.
  • The Trains made their first appearance at KCR this season and there was a fine field of five of them. The Main Event turned into a "last train left standing" battle, with Butch Pfankuchen in the #15 train getting the checkered flag when the last of the challengers fell. Early leaders Don and Kevin Rogers in the #54 train fell victim to multiple blown tires which put them out of the race.
  • Trophy Dash winners included Late Model #44 Rick Hopkins, Mini Stock #53 Jess Flores, KCRazy-8 #82 Jon Christensen, and Train #54 Don and Kevin Rogers.
  • In the first Spectator Drags event of the year, Billy Howell won the four-cylinder division and Jerry Toporek lowered the track record in winning the eight-cylinder division. The Spectator Drags event is open to any street-legal car and is a great way for the fans to get out of their seats and be a part of the show. The next opportunity is scheduled for August 16th. (Six-cylinder car owners should note that there was no entry in the division this time, and had they entered, they would have found themselves riding the Trophy Trailer!)

May 13, 1997: There will be a Car Show this Saturday and Sunday, May 17 & 18, at Rosamond High School from 11:00am to 4:00pm. All KCR racers are invited to bring their cars either day, and KCR fans should stop by on their way to the track on Saturday. For details, call Rene Perez at 805-256-9197.

May 11, 1997: Saturday night, May 10th, brought another great night of racing under near-perfect weather conditions. The action was sponsored this week by the Desert Inn of Lancaster. Partial results have been posted.

  • Kevin Wood continued his domination of the Pro-Street Stock division with his third Main Event victory in a row! Considering the large car count, and the depth of the competition at the top, this is certainly a remarkable accomplishement. With 26 cars running the Main, the class continues to show a great deal of talent as the racing was clean and exciting.
  • The Pure Street Stock division continues to grow and the action is really heating up with pressure being applied to the veterans by some of the first-timers. Bob Cunningham, for the second week in a row, lowered the track record for the division, but, unlike last week's last place finish, this time Bob got the lead early in the race and never stumbled. He held off constant pressure from Larry Wolford who took second. Rookie John Cereoli held on for third, despite having Trophy Dash winner Dana Rea on his bumper the whole way, and Harry Michaelian came in fifth right behind Dana. The last ten laps of the race looked like a five car train to the finish, with no one making a mistake.
  • The American V-8 Modifieds were back and Brad Miller, #3, posted a Main Event victory.
  • The Legend Cars made their first stop of the season at KCR. #08 Bob Graham of Mira Loma recorded the Main Event win. The Legend Cars will be back for another visit in August.
  • Trophy Dash winners included Mike Bush, #99 Pro-Street Stock; Dana Rea, #57 Pure Street Stock; Chris Peedan, #51x American V-8 Modified; Chase Bankhead, #41 Legend Car; Steve Bennett, #25 Save-U Auto Parts Pro-Street Stock Dash.

May 8, 1997: Photos! We are now starting to post photos from the first opening night, April 26. Our new KCR Web page photographer this year is Jed Dyke. Digital imaging is being done by cc hanson. We have made some changes to the entire imaging process from race day to posting which we hope will result in quicker time to posting, faster downloads, and more pictures while not sacrificing image quality. The weakest segment of the process right now is time to posting. Once we work through the current backlog that should improve some, but constraints such as day jobs and race car preparation will continue to take precedence, so don't expect miracles. Other than that, let us know how it looks!

May 7, 1997: Brad Miller Motorsports announces that Southern Auto Supply / Car Quest Parts has signed on as sponsor of the #3 American V-8 Modified for the 1997 season.

May 5, 1997: Race results, the official KCR press release, and updated point standings from May 3 are now posted!

Main Event leaders from races May 3:

  • Pro-Street Stock: Kevin Wood, Dave Hessing, Tom Wilson
  • KCR Late Model: Kenny Kranzler, Robbie Hewitt, Scott Dinger
  • KCRazy-8: Jon Christensen, Larry Wolford, Bill Famularo
  • Mini Stock: John Petsco, Tom Berube, Rick Gray

Rea Racing has filed a report on the first Pure Street Stock race on April 26.

May 4, 1997: Points standings as of 26 April are now posted.

    April 29, 1997:

  • To accomodate the large turnout of cars, KCR has announced that the pit gates will now open a half hour sooner at 2:00, starting this Saturday.
  • Car Show This Sunday Sunday, May 4, from 10:00am to 5:00pm, there will be another car show organized by the KCR Womens Auxiliary. It will be at the Texaco Express Lube in Palmdale, on Palmdale Blvd. between 25th and 30th Streets East. Here's another great chance for fans to see the cars close up and meet the drivers. Drivers interested in participating should call the track at 805-272-1234 for details.
  • Looks like Bob Cunningham is back behind the wheel of the #99x Pure Street Stock Cougar. Bob set a new track record for the division in qualifying on Saturday.
  • Pretty car contest winners included: Kenny Kranzler's #14 Late Model, Aaron Staudinger's #72 Pro-Street Stock, Dana Rea's #57 Pure Street Stock, and Travis Thirkettle's #25 American V-8 Modified.
  • Pure Street Stock first-timers included #28 John Cereoli, #15 Mark Wadsworth, #7 John Esse, all in cars new to KCR, and Harry Michaelian in the familiar #40 Heap-A-Trouble Racing Dodge CHP car. Look for Robert Rushing of Palmdale to join the pack soon in a '78 Chevy Impala.
  • There was a record turnout of 38 Pro-Street Stock cars Saturday night! There were many division first-timers along with the division veterans. The division will be back next Saturday night, along with the KCR Late Models, and the season debut of the KCRazy-8's, the Mini Stocks, and the first ever appearance of the Backseat Seat Driver division (don't ask; come see for yourself).
  • That was Jenna Heiskell doing a great presentation of the National Anthem on Saturday night. That has to be the hardest song in the world to perform and she can come back and do it any time she wants!

April 28, 1997: Opening night races took place last Saturday night. Race results are now posted, as is the official KCR press release. A very large turn-out of cars delayed opening festivities a bit, and the show ran longer than planned, but the excellent crowd of fans was treated to a great display of racing in four divisions. There were 34 cars present in the Pro-Street Stock class! Due to frantic pit activity, the only race we got to see was the Pure Street Stock Main Event. Larry Wolford, #85, took advantage of lap traffic midway through the race to rocket his greatly improved Pure Street Stock past pole-sitter Harry Michaelian in the #40 Heap. Defending Champion, Dana Rea, #57, got by on the inside when Michaelian went a little wide through four, but a thrown fan belt soon sent Rea to the pits after first giving rookie Michaelian on-track water skiing lessons. Wolford went on to win, with Michaelian holding off Bruce Miller, #44, for second.

Other winners included defending Champion #34 Kevin Wood in Pro-Street Stock, Robbie Hewitt in KCR Late Model, and defending Champion Brad Miller, #3, in American V-8 Modified.

Opening night races were sponsored by WIX Filters and Pacific Automotive Wholesale.

April 24, 1997: Many more cars attended the second open practice on April 19:

  • Pro-Street Stocks: Tom Wilson in the #13j Monte Carlo was back and got in a full day of practice this time. Aaron Staudinger was also back for more laps. 1996 Street Stock Champion Kevin Wood brought out the familiar #34 for the first time, as did Burt Tester, #28, Jim Kelley #35, and Mike Gilmore, #09. The #40 Heap-A-Trouble Racing Challenger improved lap times by about a half second before blowing up the motor. The car will be ready in time for opening night. Cindy Spies is back this season in a very spiffy looking, and much lighter, #23 Ford.
  • There were several American V-8 Modifieds present, including Bob Kindoll in the #11 car.
  • There were five Pure Street Stocks taking laps, including two new cars and three rookie drivers. Returning veterans included Bruce Miller and Melissa Watson making her first 1997 appearance in the #14 Mustang. Harry Michaelian took his first practice laps in the #40 Heap-A-Trouble Racing Monaco since running the mechanics race last year. Newcomers included the #15 Chevy Malibu of Mark Wadsworth and the #28 Camaro. Wadsworth's entry is sponsored by Cal-ci-co Rock Co. and RSI Petrolium Distributors. We don't have the name of the driver of the #28 car, but he joins Burt Tester's #28 Pro-Street Stock team in the pits.
  • Dave Vergini hasn't made it out to practice yet, but our spys did spot the #15 Pro-Street Stock Chevelle undergoing final preparations for the season opener.

April 16, 1997: Notes from the first open practice on April 12:

  • Aaron Staudinger, 1996 Street Stock Rookie of the Year, served notice that he will be among the front-runners in Pro-Street Stock this year. His freshly re-skinned #72 car was looking beautiful as he was posting lap times in the 15.75 range.
  • Other super clean looking Pro-Street Stocks present included Mike Bush in the light blue #99 car, and Joe Finger's red #13.
  • Tom Wilson's #13j Pro-Street Stock got some brief track time, but unknown problems caused it to spend most of the day on the trailer.
  • 1995 Street Stock champion Chris Peedan had his #51x American V-8 modified out for testing, but transmission problems limited his track time as well.
  • Pure Street Stocks present included Bruce Miller, #44, and Jim Boghosian's #99x Cougar. The Cougar, which was driven last year by Bob Cunningham, has a new driver this year, but we don't have his name yet. Bruce reported running laps in the 17.9 range, which is about .6 better than last year, on the newly mandated Pure Street Stock track tires.
  • Heap-A-Trouble Racing's #40 Dodge Challenger Pro-Street Stock made it's first appearance on the 1/4 mile track.
  • Featherlite Southwest Tour driver Bob Lyon had his car on the track for testing. Should we start rumors of a Tour stop at KCR in the future? Probably not.

    Other announcements:

  • The KCR Womens Auxiliary has selected officers for 1997. Beth Wolford will be President; Sheri Miller is Vice President; Debbie Kelley is Treasurer; and Debbie O'Dell is Secretary. Anyone interested in working with the Womens Auxiliary should find one of the officers at the track, or call Jan Hall at the KCR office at 805-272-1234.
  • Rea Racing has reported that a 1997 Pro-Street Stock entry is in the works. It won't be ready for opening night, but look for it later in the season. Meanwhile, Kim and Rodney Casaus have come on board as associate sponsors of Dana Rea's #57 Pure Street Stock entry.

    April 10, 1997:

  • KCR American V-8 Modified 1996 Champion Brad Miller of Palmdale announces that he will be back in 1997 in his #3 Modified, for what may be his last season.
  • California City's Bruce Miller will be back for his second year in Pure Street Stock in his blue #44 Olds Omega.
  • Veteran Pure Street Stock driver Rick Morris has made his annual announcement that he is not retiring after all. Following his second place 1996 finish, he will be gunning for first in the #58 Chevy Malibu.
  • Larry Wolford will be running in two divisions this year. He will run his #85 Street Stock exclusively in the KCRazy-8 division, and he is building a new entry for the Pure Street Stock division.

    March 30, 1997:

  • 1996 KCR Daredevil Stock Rookie of the Year Melissa Watson will be back this year in her Pure Street Stock Mustang. Reportedly, the car has been repainted a more traditional Ford blue and white.
  • 1996 KCR Daredevil Stock Champion Dana Rea will be back. The #57 Chevelle has had a complete face lift and a fresh coat of paint and will be a top contender for the opening night Pretty Car award in the Pure Street Stock division. The J-Bones Sports Grill of Palmdale and KLKX 93.5 join the Desert Inn as sponsors this year.
  • The Heap-A-Trouble Racing #40 Dodge Pure Street Stock will be back with Harry Michaelian taking over the steering wheel.
  • Earl "The Squirrel" Dorman (1996 KCR Late Model #07) reports that he is now in Sacramento and will not be able to race at KCR this year. He is very interested in keeping in touch, and can be reached by e-mail.
  • The Heap-A-Trouble Racing Pro-Street Stock Dodge Challenger made its 1997 debut recently in a road race on the 2.5 mile course at Willow Springs International Raceway. Yes! We do have pictures!

February 22, 1997: The 1997 Kern County Raceway schedule is now available. Check it out!

January 26, 1997: The 1997 Kern County Raceway season is fast approaching. The 1996 Awards Banquet was held last night at the Essex House in Lancaster. The 1997 schedule and rules are close to being finalized. As they become available, we will post them here. As announced yesterday, we do know:

  • There will be Saturday night racing at KCR every week during the 1997 season. There will be three or four divisions running each week.
  • The full schedule is not yet final, but mark your calendar for the season opener on April 26.
  • Street Stocks will, of course, be back in 1997, but with a new name for the division: Pro-Street Stock. Rules were distributed at the Banquet and are posted here.
  • The Daredevil Stock division will also get a new name for 1997: Pure Street Stocks. This will be a little more recognizable for competitors and fans from other tracks. The Pure Street Stock rules are also available and are now posted.

December 2, 1996: The Fourth Annual Asphalt Turkey Nationals is in the books. Run under weather conditions that varied from pleasant to very cold and windy, the event provided three days of non-stop circle track action and a satisfying season-ender for fans and participants alike.

The KCR Web page crew was busy all weekend trying to match car setup to the conditions, so we don't have detailed notes on the results. Full results will be posted as soon as we get them. We do know the following random facts:

  • Dave Hessing won the Street Stock Main Event, with 1996 Champion Kevin Wood right behind him in second.
  • Brian Kelly won the Late Model Main Event.
  • Gary Dionne won the Daredevil Stock Main Event with Dana Rea and Jerry Toporek all over him in second and third.
  • Bob Kindoll won the American V-8 Modified Main Event.
  • The Dwarf Car Main Event was dominated by Doug Philpot's awesome pocket rocket.
  • There was an excellent turn-out of Mini Stocks, I-4 Modifieds, and Legends cars. The I-4 Main Event was marred by seemingly endless yellow flags. The Mini Stocks, with a large contingent coming in from Orange Show Speedway, put on a great display of three-wide racing on the small 1/4 mile track.
  • Judging by the wild heat race on Saturday, the KCRazy-8 Main Event was surely exciting, with Jon Christensen, Yagel Berkovitz and Dan Gilchrist very likely providing much of the KCRazyness.

October 13, 1996: Pictures! We have new pictures posted from the September 7 Championship races, and more to come.

October 8, 1996: We now have the final points standings for all divisions, plus the combined Street Stock/KCRazy-8 divisions, posted.

September 30, 1996: The official order of top finishers in Saturday's 100 lap Street Stock race was:

    1. #38 Rick Crow, Simi Valley
    2. #10 Don Hefler, Mission Hills
    3. #26 Greg Benner, Whittier
    4. #34 Kevin Wood, Saugus
    5. #13j Tom Wilson, San Fernando
Additional details will be posted as soon as we have them.

September 29, 1996: The First Annual September Street Stock Shootout was run last night, and a glorious night it was. A fine field of over thirty Street Stock cars competed for the 22 starting postitions in the Main Event. In an incredible display of classy driving, the opening 75 lap segment of the 100 lap race ran for 23 laps of green flag racing before the first yellow came out. Fast qualifier Gerrit Cromsigt quickly overcame the starting invert to pull up on the tail of early leader Rick Crow. Cromisgt managed to get by Crow, but the officials ruled that the pass was too rough, and Cromsigt was penalized one position at the first yellow flag. Following the restart, Cromisgt again pushed Crow out of the way, with Crow doing a tremendous job of driving to keep from spinning. Once again, Cromisgt was put back at the next yellow. The third time, though, Cromsigt got past Crow cleanly and led the rest of the way to the break. Following a 15 minute refueling break, the field was restarted from their positions at the 75 lap mark. We don't have much in the way of final results yet, but we do know that Gerrit Cromsigt was first to take the checkered flag on the track. We also know that the Tech officials were at the track until 4:30 Sunday morning inspecting the top finishers, so we will hold off on any speculation and post results when they become official. We do know that this was a spectacular display of Street Stock racing.

The final race of the evening was a 40 lap Main Event for Daredevil Stocks. With the usual KCR Daredevil street tire rule modified to allow the racing recap used by Mesa Marin Street Stock cars, it was going to take error-free driving, and a few very big breaks, for the Heap-A-Trouble Dodge to even place, but that is exactly what happened. The awesome Mesa Marin car of Howie Smith blew a motor, dropping him out of the early lead and out of the race. KCR 1996 Daredevil Stock champion Dana Rea, on Mesa Marin tires, was able to chase, and finally catch up with, Todd Kessler's Mesa Marin car, with the Heap holding off the rest of the 11 car field in third. On the 34th lap, Rea got inside Kessler, but got spun into the infield for his efforts. With Kessler booted to the rear, Jerry Toporek just had to keep the street tire shod Dodge straight to the finish for his first ever Main Event win. Bob Cunningham took second with Dana Rea charging hard through the field to finish third.

Results from September 21 are now posted.

September 23, 1996: The final Championship Races of the KCR 1996 points season were run Saturday night. We don't have official final points yet, but we were there and here is what we know unofficially:

  • The 1996 KCR Street Stock champion is Kevin Wood who won the Trophy Dash and then was untouchable in winning his first Main Event of the season once he got around early leader Joe Finger. Greg Benner ran third through much of the race but dropped back to about sixth at the finish, which was good enough to retain his hold on second place for the season.
  • The KCRazy-8 Main Event was won by Mesa Marin Super Street Stock champion Kirk Miller. Miller was challenged by Scott Dinger whose car lost a wheel and left the track on the hook. Nonetheless, Dinger scored enough points to nail down the inaugural KCRazy-8 championship. Jon Christensen's car was too badly damaged last time out to make it back on the track, but Jon was able to get a ride in Dave Hessing's car allowing him to hold on to second place in the standings.
  • In the American V-8 Modified division, points leader Brad Miller only needed to take the starting flag in the Main Event to clinch the title. Brad took no chances, leaving the track after one lap of the Trophy Dash which was won convincingly by Robert Rice. Rice solidified his second place for the season with a wire-to-wire win in the Main Event with Miller closing to his bumper in the last few laps and Bruce Gallion finishing in third place.
  • Tom Berube led Rodney Bornhop to the checkered flag in the Mini Stock Main Event, but neither picked up nearly enough points to catch Douglas Nealy who wrapped up first place in the points standings.

The three Mechanics Races were entertaining as always. The best race was in the American V-8 Modified division. Veteran driver Jimmy Altman driving Robert Rice's car led all the way with Street Stock Rookie-of-the-Year candidate Aaron Staudinger closing to his bumper in Bruce Gallion's car. Apparently there was some confusion among the Street Stock drivers who thought that this was supposed to be a "Maniac's Race". Mercifully, the race was stopped while there were still plenty of cars left for next week's Shootout.

September 20, 1996: Final points standings for the five divisions that ran Championship Races September 7 are now posted! Champions of those divisions are:

  • Late Models: Craig Jensen
  • Daredevil Stock: Dana Rea
  • Dwarf Cars: Gary Ebeling
  • I-4 Modifieds: Al Richards
  • Train Races: Don & Kevin Rogers

Championship Races for the remaining divisions are tomorrow night!

September 9, 1996: The full results listing for the five Championship Races of Septmeber 7 is now posted.

The Full Story, including details of the Mechanic's and Official's Races is also now available.

September 8, 1996: Final points races for five of the KCR divisions were run last night. We were too busy working on the car to get all the details, but we will post full results as soon as we get them. We do know that Scott Dinger won the 50 lap Late Model Main Event; Gary Ebeling won the 25 lap Dwarf Car Main Event; and Ron Woods won the 40 lap Daredevil Stock Main Event. August 25, 1996: Midnight Madness! An oval track orgy of 27 races for nine divisions was completed well past midnight this morning. We're too exhausted to remember everything that happened, but here is what we do remember: Scott Dinger was a double winner in Late Model and KCRazy-8 Main Events. Tom Wilson was kissing everyone in sight after winning his first ever Street Stock Main. Gary Ebeling toyed with the field of Dwarf Cars before turning his up to 11 and jetting away with their Main. Doug Nealy won another Mini Stock Main. Rob Smith took first in the I-4 Modified Main Event. Don and Kevin Rogers won the Train Race when Ron Rock's locomotive lost a wheel. Brad Miller won the American V-8 Modified Main. Finally, well past midnight, the Daredevil Stock division took the track for their Main Event. Rookie driver Melissa Watson lead early but was turned around by Rick Morris as they came up on lap traffic. Rick got booted to the back leaving fast qualifier Dana Rea and Jerry Toporek doing a cops-and-robbers routine with the Heap-A-Trouble Dodge squad car not quite able to get its man as Dana held on to win his third straight Main Event.

August 24, 1996: KCR announces the First Annual September Street Stock Shootout, 100 lap race for Street Stocks and a 40 lap race for Daredevil Stocks!

August 23, 1996: Photos from August 10 are now being posted!

August 11, 1996: Another action packed day of racing was completed last night at KCR. Mike Bush led a 24 car field to the finish in the Street Stock main event. Dana Rea scored a back to back main event win in the Daredevil Stock division. Seth Wilson held off points leader Gary Ebeling to win the Dwarf Car main event. Jon Christensen took first place in the always-exciting KCRazy 8 Division figure eight main ahead of Scott Dinger. Dinger then jumped in his Late Model car to again finish second behind winner Kenny Kranzler. A late addition to the Late Model field was Richard Hooper who came up from San Bernardino when the program at Orange Show was cancelled due to the power failure. Turns out those lengendary KCR generators were heros for a change. See Results for all divisions!
